Six rounds, six targets. Hit the target and you pile up points. Miss it completely and half your score is gone.
The six rounds
In order: 20s, 19s, 18s, any Double, any Triple, then the Bull. The live target is shown big at the top every round.
Your turn
Three darts. Every dart that hits the target adds what it is worth: T20 in the 20s round is 60, D16 in the double round is 32, an outer bull is 25 and the Double Bull is 50.
The halving
Miss with all three darts and your total is cut in half (rounded down). On 118 and you blank a round? You are on 59.
Walk through one
Round 1 you hit 20 and T20 for 80. Round 2 you hit D19 for 38, so 118. Round 3 you blank the 18s completely — down to 59. That is the whole game in three rounds: one bad round undoes two good ones.
Winning
Highest score after the bull round. Tied? Play the bull round again until somebody is clear.
How to win at Halve-It
The first priority is not to blank. One hit on the target, however small, protects your whole total. Take the safest shot first.
Then go for points. Once you have a hit, your remaining darts are free to chase trebles.
Big totals have more to lose. A leader on 200 who blanks drops 100 in one round. Late in the game, safe play wins.

Different target lists. Pubs often use numbers like 15, 16, 17 plus "any double", "any treble" and the bull, or a longer list.
Specific doubles. Some lists include a fixed double or treble, such as D16 or T19.
