The idea
Nine innings, and each inning has its own number: inning 1 is the 1s, inning 2 the 2s, up to the 9s. You are collecting runs.
Your turn
Three darts at the inning’s number. A single is 1 run, a double is 2, a triple is 3. Nothing else scores — a fat 20 in the 4th inning is just a miss.
Walk through one
Inning 4. You throw T4, D4 and a miss: that is 3 + 2 = 5 runs for the inning. A perfect inning is three triples for 9.
Winning
Most runs after nine innings. Level? Extra innings, up the numbers, until somebody comes out ahead.
Good to know
The small numbers are all crowded at the bottom of the board, so early innings are scrappier than they look.
How to win at Baseball
Aim for the treble. A treble is three runs; a single is one. A perfect inning is nine runs.
Small numbers are awkward. The 1 to 9 are scattered round the board, and several sit near the bottom. Take a moment to settle on each new target.
Every inning counts the same. Unlike Shanghai, a big early inning is just as valuable as a late one.
Variations and house rules
Dart Keeper plays nine innings on the 1s to the 9s, with singles, doubles and trebles worth 1, 2 and 3 runs. Other rules:
Bull for ties. Instead of extra innings, some groups settle a tie with a throw at the bull.
